Meet Gerald

Entering into a counselling relationship can be frightening and feel like you are losing control. Gerald's approach assists you to regain your footing and to exercise your authority in making decisions, to finding a direction that is healthy, happy, safe and secure, and above all else meaningful.

Gerald obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Social Work from prestigious McMaster University. He obtained his Masters of Social Work from Dalhousie University, and entered into private practice following his studies. Gerald is a published author, speaker and continuing education trainer.

Gerald's therapeutic approach focuses on hearing your perspective of what is troubling and to engage you in a change process. Individuals strive to be better;to have less guilt and shame; to feel confident, competent; and to be seen as equals in their relationships. He helps to create the space to safely enter into these discussions.

Gerald specializes in family dynamic issues and topics such as: relationship expectations, domestic conflict, marital discord, parenting challenges and issues often before the court. He has 22 years of child welfare experience and almost 10 years of private practice experience. He has a broad range of clinical skills to offer to clients. He is straight-forward and honest - he is 100% authentic. 

Gerald was a competitive boxer, and continues to enjoys daily runs and exercise, and spending time with his family. Gerald is an avid reader and researcher, ensuring he is up-to-date on the latest interventions and research findings. He is in the process of writing his second book. Gerald loves coffee and has a witty sense of humour.
